Truth vs Tradition: How Kabir Panth Was Corrupted After Dharmdas Ji
Introduction
Saint Dharmdas Ji was one of the prominent and spiritually elevated disciples of Supreme God Kabir Sahib. Entrusted with divine knowledge and the responsibility to carry forward true spiritual teachings, he became a vital link in the propagation of Satya Bhakti—the true path to salvation. However, over time, significant distortions crept into the spiritual lineage that followed him. This article sheds light on the prophecies of Kabir Sahib regarding the degeneration of the spiritual system after a few generations in the lineage of Dharmdas Ji, and how the true path would eventually be revived.
The Truth About Saint Dharmdas Ji's Lineage
The followers of the Dama Kheda seat often claim that receiving initiation from their lineage guarantees liberation. However, the spiritual history of Saint Dharmdas Ji tells a very different story. According to the divine revelations given by Supreme God Kabir Sahib, Dharmdas Ji’s eldest son, Narayan Das, was not a spiritual heir but a messenger of Kaal. Despite Kabir Sahib’s repeated instruction, Narayan Das refused to accept initiation. This devastated Dharmdas Ji, who, upon learning the truth, lamented that his lineage belonged to Kaal and fell unconscious from grief.
To comfort his devotee, God Kabir assured Dharmdas Ji that although Narayan Das’s lineage would perish, Dharmdas Ji would be blessed with another son—Chudamani—through whom the righteous lineage would continue for forty-two generations. Chudamani was born miraculously by Kabir Sahib’s grace, and God Himself instructed Dharmdas Ji to give him only the true First Mantra (which is also given today by Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj). This would safeguard the essence of true devotion.
However, Kabir Sahib forewarned that spiritual downfall would begin in the seventh generation. A deceitful spiritual leader would abandon the true mantra and introduce false ones. Later generations—particularly the eleventh, thirteenth, and seventeenth mahants—would further corrupt the teachings, eventually erasing true bhakti from the lineage altogether. Though the family line would continue until the forty-second generation, the divine path would be lost.
Though God Kabir Sahib permitted the lineage of Saint Dharmdas Ji to continue for forty-two generations, it was made clear that true devotion would not last throughout. The continuation was allowed only for the sake of preserving the historical record, not as a guarantee of spiritual authority or salvation.
This divine account proves that mere affiliation with a traditional seat like Dama Kheda, or taking initiation from a lineage claiming descent from Saint Dharmdas Ji, does not ensure salvation. Liberation is only possible through a Tatvdarshi Saint who gives initiation according to the original spiritual method established by Supreme God Kabir Sahib.
Attempts to Mislead Devotees by Distorting Kabir's Teachings
Photocopies of the book “Yatharth Kabir Panth Rahasya” (pp. 83–84) expose the attempts made by the Damakheda followers to criticize and create confusion around the teachings found in the book “Yatharth Kabir Panth Parichay”. In their attempt to discredit the teachings of Sant Rampal Das Ji Maharaj, they falsely claim that his statement—"true devotion will end after the seventh generation"—is incorrect.
However, this very prophecy is clearly stated in Kabir Sagar, Chapter Anurag Sagar, page 140 (also marked as page 264), and reaffirmed on page 141. These verses were spoken directly by Kabir Sahib to His dear disciple Dharmdas Ji.
Kabir Sahib’s Prophecy About Dharmdas Ji’s Lineage
In Anurag Sagar, Kabir Sahib explicitly foretells that from the sixth generation onward, those born in Dharmdas Ji’s bloodline (referred to as bind vansh) would be misled by Taksari Panth followers thereby losing the mantras of true worship. These misguiding agents would distort the spiritual practices, and from that point, the gaddi (spiritual seat) holders of Dharmdas Ji’s lineage would begin to engage in meaningless rituals like offering pan prasad, lighting ceremonial aarti, and performing superficial acts, thereby plunging many souls into the suffering of the 8.4 million life forms.
Kabir Sahib warns:
"This word of mine will not go in vain."
This reveals that the degeneration of true spiritual practice was not merely coincidental, but part of a foretold deviation from the true path—resulting in large-scale misguidance.
Revival of the True Kabir Panth by the Shishya Lineage
On page 141 of Anurag Sagar, Kabir Sahib gives a divine assurance to Dharmdas Ji: just as Dharmdas was initiated and became Kabir Sahib’s naad-putra (spiritual son through initiation), similarly, Kabir Sahib would later send another spiritual son—a naad vansh Saint—during the time of the middle generations.
This Saint (interpreted as Sant Rampal Das Ji Maharaj) would appear after 5505 years of Kaliyuga had passed and would:
- Correct the corrupted practices in Dharmdas Ji’s lineage,
- Restore the true method of worship,
- Connect souls to the Yatharth Kabir Panth (true Kabir path),
- Deliver salvation to 42 generations of Dharmdas Ji’s descendants if they accept initiation from this naad tradition Saint.
Kabir Sahib further clarifies:
“Be it naad vansh (initiated disciple lineage) or bind vansh (biological lineage), only the one who follows the true Kabir Panth will attain salvation. Without a true Guru, liberation is not possible.”
Thus, the real spiritual benefit lies not in lineage or family tradition, but in following the true method of devotion under the guidance of a Tatvadarshi Saint.
Instructions from Kabir Sahib to Dharmdas Ji
Kabir Sahib instructs Dharmdas Ji to:
- Make his descendants aware of the danger of getting misled by Kaal’s agents.
- Guide them toward love and devotion for the naad vansh Saint (Tatvadarshi Guru).
- Emphasize that the revival and survival of the true path would come only through the naad (spiritual disciple) tradition, not by mere hereditary right.
Kabir Sahib also makes it clear that:
“It is the naad vansh (Shishya Parampara) that has preserved and revived the true Kabir Panth through all four Yugas.”
This solidifies the superiority and authenticity of the spiritual lineage over the biological one.
Conclusion
The spiritual degeneration in the lineage of Saint Dharmdas Ji was predicted by none other than Supreme God Kabir Himself. Despite the corruption that arose through generational deviation, Kabir Sahib assured that He would send a true Saint from the naad vansh to revive the original path. This prophecy aligns with the appearance of Sant Rampal Das Ji Maharaj, who has re-established Satya Bhakti and exposed false rituals and misguidance in hereditary lineages.
True seekers must understand that salvation is not inherited—it is attained only by taking refuge in the Saint sent by God, who provides the correct knowledge, true initiation, and guidance for the soul’s journey to Satlok.
