God Kabir

God Kabir, also known as Kabir Parmeshwar or Kavir Dev, is the Supreme God who manifests in human form to impart true spiritual knowledge and guide souls toward salvation. Unlike other deities bound by birth and death, Kabir Saheb is eternal, unborn, and all-powerful, residing in the immortal abode known as Satlok. He creates the entire universe through His divine word (Shabd) and governs all realms with absolute authority. Recognized in various holy scriptures including the Vedas, Bhagavad Gita, Quran, and Bible, He descends to Earth out of compassion to liberate souls trapped in the cycle of birth and death. His teachings, simple yet profound, reveal the hidden truths of creation, the Supreme path of devotion, and the ultimate purpose of human life.

The Divine Appearance of God Kabir in Varanasi (1398–1518 CE)

God Kabir appeared in Varanasi in 1398 CE in a miraculous way, not born from a mother’s womb but manifested as an infant on a lotus flower in the pond of Lahartara. This divine event confirmed His transcendental nature, as described in the Vedas. He was lovingly raised by a humble weaver couple, Neeru and Neema, and lived a saintly life for 120 years, spreading the true knowledge of the Supreme God and the path to salvation. During His time on Earth until 1518 CE, He fearlessly challenged religious hypocrisy, superstitions, and blind rituals, and revealed that all souls are children of one Supreme God. Through His verses and discourses, He gave the eternal truth in simple language, accessible to all, regardless of caste, religion, or status. His divine mission was to liberate souls by revealing the true devotion and the hidden mantras of salvation, which are mentioned in the holy scriptures of all major religions.

Satyug mein Satsukrit keh tera, Treta naam Munindar Mera,
Dwaapar mein Karunamay kahaya, Kalyug naam Kabir dharaya

This speech by respected Saint Garib Das Ji Maharaj beautifully reveals the divine identity of God Kabir across the four Yugas (ages). Here’s an explanation of each line:

"Satyug mein Sat Sukrit keh tera"

In Satyug (the first age), God Kabir was known by the name Sat Sukrit. He gave true spiritual knowledge and showed the path of salvation to the souls, but people recognized Him with that name during that time.

"Treta naam Muninder mera"

In Treta Yuga (the second age), He came by the name Muninder. Again, He revealed the eternal truth and true devotion, and guided souls toward liberation.

"Dwapar mein Karunamay kahaya"

In Dwapar Yuga (the third age), He was known as Karunamay, which means "the Compassionate One". He showed immense mercy to trapped souls, explaining the way out of the cycle of birth and death.

"Kalyug naam Kabir dharaya"

In Kalyug (the present age), He took the name Kabir and appeared in 1398 CE in Varanasi. He lived openly as a weaver but was in fact the Supreme God Himself, delivering true knowledge and revealing the secrets of creation.

The Divine Upbringing of God Kabir Nourished by Maiden Cows

When Supreme God Kabir appeared in 1398 CE as an infant on a lotus flower in Lahar Tara Pond, Varanasi, He did not take birth from a mother’s womb. Instead, He descended from Satlok, the eternal divine realm, in His own eternal body. Upon His miraculous appearance, something extraordinary happened: maiden cows (heifer cows who had never calved) began producing milk and nourished the infant Kabir Sahib. This was not natural but divine nourishment, brought from Satlok through those cows by God’s will. This divine upbringing is clearly mentioned in the Rigveda, Mandal 9, Sukt 1, Mantra 9, which states:

"अभि इमम् अघ्न्याः उत श्रीणन्ति धेनवः शिशुम् सोमम् इन्द्राय पातवे ॥"

Transliteration: Abhi imam adhnyah ut shrinanti dhenavah shishum somam indraaye paatave.

This mantra confirms that the Supreme God appears in child form and is nourished by the milk of heifer cows, a miraculous act that cannot happen by worldly means. The early life of Kabir Sahib perfectly aligns with this Rigvedic revelation, proving His divine origin and supreme identity.

Supreme God Kabir as the Revealer of True Knowledge in Times of Spiritual Deception

The Revealer of Eternal Truth

In times when the world is engulfed in spiritual darkness and misguided by distorted rituals and non-scriptural practices, God Kabir, the Supreme Being, graciously appears to restore the true path of devotion. He comes not to create a new religion, but to revive the eternal knowledge that leads to liberation. With divine compassion, He enlightens sincere seekers with Tatvagyan—the complete knowledge of the self, the soul, and the Supreme. Though He dwells among the people in a human-like form, His presence radiates unmatched wisdom and spiritual power. Through simple yet profound teachings, He exposes the futility of false worship and guides souls back toward their original eternal abode, Satlok. His purpose is not just to inform, but to transform—to awaken the dormant truth within and lead humanity toward salvation.

The Yajurveda Chapter 29 Mantra 25 reveals this profound quality of the Supreme God.

समिद्धोऽद्य मनुषो दुरोणे देवः देवान् यजसि जातवेदः आ च वह मित्रमहः चिकित्वान् त्वं दूतः कविरसि प्रचेताः

Samiddh adya manushah durone devah devan yaj asi jatavedah a cha vah mitramahah chikitvan tvam dutah kavir asi pracetah

This mantra clearly affirms that when the world is immersed in falsehood and misled by unauthorised, harmful religious practices, it is Kabir Parmeshwar who descends to restore true spiritual wisdom — Tatvagyan. He alone exposes the hollowness of ritualistic worship not supported by scriptures and reestablishes the correct way of devotion that leads the soul toward liberation. At such critical junctures in spiritual history, when humanity strays from the path of truth, it is God Kabir who becomes the beacon of light, guiding seekers back to the eternal abode, Satlok.

Samaveda 1400 also describes the same attribute of God Kabir

भद्रा वस्त्रा समन्या वसअनः महान् कविर् निवचनानि शंसन् आवच्यस्व चम्वोः पूयमानः विचक्षणः जागृविः देव वीतौ

Bhadra vastra samanya vasano mahaan kavir nivachani shansan
A vachyasva chambhoh puyamanah vichakshano jagrivi dev vitau

This Samaveda mantra says that God Kabir (Kavirdev) descends into this world to impart true spiritual knowledge to the devotee community, who are entangled in harmful, non-scriptural practices. He manifests in a radiant divine form, invisible to ordinary eyes, and dwells among people in human-like appearance for a period, engaging in divine acts while unveiling the path to the Supreme God.

Notable Life Events of God Kabir: A Journey of Divine Revelation

When God Kabir descended on Earth in 1398 CE, as an infant on a lotus flower in the Lahartara Pond in Varanasi, He was discovered by a humble Muslim weaver couple, Niru and Nima, who had no children of their own. Recognizing the child as a divine gift, they raised Him with love and care, unaware of His supreme origin. Despite being raised in a modest household, Kabir Saheb displayed extraordinary wisdom and spiritual depth from a very young age. To exemplify the need for a spiritual guide, God Kabir chose Swami Ramanand as His Guru. This significant event occurred at the steps of the Panchganga Ghat in Varanasi. As per divine planning, Swami Ramanand unknowingly gave Him initiation in the name of 'Ram' during the Brahma Muhurat, fulfilling the symbolic requirement of a guru-disciple relationship.

Throughout His life, God Kabir openly challenged false religious practices and superstitions. In one notable event, He defeated the prominent yogi Gorakhnath in a spiritual debate, establishing the supremacy of scriptural knowledge and true devotion over occult practices and ego-driven philosophies. Another profound incident took place during a communal feast organized by Brahmins, where entry was permitted only to those who could recite a mantra from the Vedas. To expose their arrogance and hypocrisy, Kabir Saheb made a bull recite the Vedic mantra, shocking everyone present and proving that true knowledge and power lie with the Supreme God, not with caste or ritualistic pride.

God Kabir’s divine mission was not limited to one community or tradition. In a historic meeting at the shores of the River Bein in Sultanpur Lodhi, He met Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Recognizing Guru Nanak as a spiritually inclined soul, Kabir Saheb enlightened him with the true spiritual knowledge (Tatvagyan) and even took him to Satlok—the eternal abode—referred to as Sachkhand in Punjabi. This divine journey further affirmed that God Kabir is the Supreme Being who imparts true knowledge to worthy souls and guides them toward liberation. These landmark events in God Kabir’s earthly journey not only highlight His divine power but also His unwavering commitment to reforming spiritual practices and uniting humanity under the umbrella of true devotion and universal brotherhood.

God Kabir’s Divine Departure to Satlok

In 1518 CE, God Kabir concluded His divine play on Earth by returning to His eternal realm, Satlok, in a miraculous and unprecedented manner. This divine departure took place in Maghar, India—a place traditionally believed to be inauspicious for spiritual liberation. However, to dispel such myths and reveal the truth about salvation, God Kabir chose Maghar to leave the world, demonstrating that liberation is not bound by geography, but by true devotion and knowledge. At the moment of His departure, God Kabir did not leave behind any mortal remains. Instead, only fragrant flowers, mysteriously shaped like a human body, were found in place of a corpse. This astonishing event confirmed His divine nature and that His body was not perishable like that of ordinary beings.

Both Hindus and Muslims, who were His dedicated disciples, had deep reverence for Him and wished to perform His final rites according to their respective customs. To resolve the situation peacefully, they divided the divine flowers into two portions. Hindus performed the cremation rituals, while Muslims observed burial rites. As a result, two separate shrines were constructed in Maghar—one by Hindus and one by Muslims—standing side by side to this day. These adjacent memorials serve as a powerful symbol of the unity that God Kabir nurtured among people of different faiths. Through His universal teachings and divine example, God Kabir not only revealed the path to salvation but also fostered harmony and brotherhood among diverse religious communities, exemplifying the message that God is one, and all souls are His children.
